Natural stones are formed by nature and therefore have some limitations. Different materials have different limitations. Examples of natural stone are marble, limestone, granite, travertine, slate, onyx and basalt. Natural stone need to be sealed to protect them, even granites which are renowned for their hardness and durability will need sealing. Sealing not only helps protect the stone but in some cases enhances the colour. Many believe that sealers prevent the stone from being damaged. Sealers normally only stop the ingress of water or oils they consequently do not protect from scratching, etching and dull spots.
Honed, polished, bus hammered and sand blasted
20 and 30mm slabs and cut to size and standard sized tiles.
For flooring it is advisable to use a dry micro fiber mop where possible because it will reduce the risk of scratching. When wet washing always use an acid-free product. Allow the floor to dry thoroughly during the first 3 to 6 months. During this period it is important to use only a small amount of water to mop the floor. Allow the surplus moisture to evaporate from the tiles. Always use a product that does not seal the pores of the stone (e.g. Lithofin MN Easy Care Cleaner). This product is always added to clean water and can be used for future regular cleaning.
When the surface is completely dry, it can be protected with a suitable sealer (e.g. Lithofin MN Stain Stop).
